Supporting local businesses & artists…

Long time client and friend, Angela Murphy, came into the clinic this week and revealed she’d published a book since we last saw her. 🤩

'Maggie McGee's From the Street with the Trees' is an interactive children’s story that pairs beautifully with an app, playing real bird calls as you turn each page. The illustrations, by Tianni Fazio, and storytelling come together so well. The bin chicken is a personal favourite. 💙

Huge congratulations, Angela & Tianni!

If you’d like to purchase a copy, visit https://www.maggiemcgees.com.au/

Or we have a few stashed away in the store room if you’d like to grab one at your next appointment! Just in time for Christmas. 🎄

Milly’s Weipa trip round-up 🚗🌞

The Drum family was kind enough to let me tag along to Weipa for a taste of remote FNQ life!

While Anna skipped the 12-hour drive and flew in for her early appointment, Otis, the kids and I set off before 5am for the long road trip north.

We stopped at Split Rock, Musgrave River Roadhouse, and Archer. I also got to see my first proper road train, plus the famous red dirt the kids were so excited to show me.

Once we arrived, we drove around for about ten minutes before Otis announced I’d officially seen the whole of Weipa. I thought he was joking. He wasn’t.

Trip highlights:
➡️Spotted a croc near the boat ramp
➡️Witnessed my first sunset in a very long time
➡️Having my own personal hair stylists (Melia and Avia) on call the whole trip
➡️Bird watching
➡️A quick storm (only wish it lasted longer)
➡️Watching the kids perform a “rain dance” to manifest their flight getting cancelled
➡️And last but not least… free drinks on the flight home

Huge thanks to Kylie for letting me stay, and to Otis for driving the entire way (still undecided if he was just being nice or quietly terrified of my dirt-road driving skills).

It was so special to see a different part of Australia and finally meet some of the people Anna talks about so often.

Plus, while the Weipa chapter of the Drum family and I were out exploring, Anna somehow managed to squeeze in 25 myo appointments🤯 leaving the Weipa community moving a little better and feeling a lot comfier.

She’ll be back next month, so keep your eyes peeled for the exact dates!

“How many sessions will it take to fix me?”

It’s something we get asked all the time in the clinic.

A fair question, and there are a few things we’ll look at during your initial consultation to get an idea of how long recovery might take.

Some of the things Anna will assess include:

➡️ How long you’ve had the issue and what might have caused it
➡️ Your movement patterns and posture
➡️ Muscle imbalances or joint restrictions
➡️ What your day-to-day looks like (workload, exercise, rest, etc.)
➡️ How your body responds to hands-on treatment in that first session

From there, you’ll get a realistic idea of what to expect.

For some people, it’s just a couple of sessions and they’re back to feeling great (and often sending everyone they know our way).

Others benefit from coming in regularly for upkeep, which helps keep pain under control and prevents flare-ups.

And in some cases, if your symptoms suggest something more serious, we’ll refer you to your GP or another healthcare provider for further investigation. If we're not the right healthcare provider for you, we'll help you find one that is.

Every body is different, and that’s exactly how we approach treatment.

Hi all,

Unfortunately our lovely receptionist Milly will be leaving us at the end of December. 😢 But she's off to go and explore Thailand and WA so we're all very excited for her.

However that leaves us with a position to fill! So if you're looking for a change of scenery or a new challenge, we're in the market for a Medical Receptionist.

We're always more interested in attitude than experience. If you can bring great energy to the workplace, we're certain you can learn on the job.

Plus, if you can start before the end of December you can work closely with Milly so she can show you the ropes.

All the details about the role and how to apply can be found here: https://www.capabilityhealth.com.au/join-the-team

Please pass along to anyone who you think might like to join our small wonderful team! 💙
