Sermon Takeaways: Receiving and Giving
A key reminder from yesterday’s sermon: “I must decrease, and He must increase.”
The Dead Sea is a powerful illustration of stagnation—it continually receives water but has no outlet. With no outflow, it becomes lifeless and is known as the “Dead Sea.”
In contrast, the Sea of Galilee receives water yet remains vibrant and life-giving because it also releases a steady stream. It is alive because it gives.
Life, at its core, is about both receiving and giving. Many of Jesus’ miracles and teachings occurred by the Sea of Galilee, underscoring this principle of generous outflow.
The question we must each consider is this: Is my life more like the Dead Sea or the Sea of Galilee?
• Receive love, and also give love.
• Receive forgiveness, and also forgive.
• Receive blessing, and also be a blessing.
Let us choose life.
“Give, and it will be given to you.”
“Sow generously, and you will reap generously.”
Wishing you a blessed and fruitful week ahead.
