Pleased to announce a panel discussion on CTE for this coming Monday 20th July Busselton Man Walk. Colin West (AKA Westy) will facilitate a panel with Peter Troode (ex head of WA AFL umpires) and Dr Trent Healy on the panel.
While a single concussion is tough, the real danger comes from repeated blows over time. This cumulative trauma can lead to a progressive brain condition officially known as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).
Over years, these constant impacts cause an abnormal protein called tau to build up inside the tissue. Think of it like toxic debris slowly blocking the highway, choking off healthy brain cells. Because it develops quietly over decades, someone might not notice symptoms until much later in life, experiencing severe memory loss, intense mood swings, confusion, or depression.
Protecting our heads isn't just about bouncing back from one injury; it's about safeguarding our long-term mental health. Come along and build an understanding of the issue and challenges for sporting codes addressing the risks of contact sport.

Appreciated the opportunity to connect with Dan Repacholi MP National Special Envoy for Men's Health at the WA Mens Health and Wellbeing Symposium.
It is a strong step forward to see this role established and hear from Dan about his authentic passion for improving Australian mens' physical, psychological and social health wellbeing.
Good to discuss with him the importance of collaboration across the mens health sector to leverage expertise and investment.
This is something MenAble INC have embraced in working with an array of state and national entities to facilitate the extension of reach and impact into regional WA.
Dan is a giant in stature as well as character and was a multi games olympian in a previous life. Shooting rather than basketball as it turns out.
His stature made me rethink my assumptions that I was an average height guy.
