Got stress? We all do - and the key isn’t to make it go away, it’s learning how to manage it. And the breath is the first place to start.
My 16 Seconds practice is easy to remember and is a way to bring peace into this moment … and then possibly the next moment, and the next. It’s simple and you can do it anywhere, at anytime, no matter what is going on around you.
Simply close your eyes and take a long, slow deep breath in, pause at the top, and then exhale, and pause at the bottom. Try it right now as you are reading this! You don’t even need to close your eyes.
When we get stressed, our breath gets shallow. Intentionally deepening the breath gives our body/mind a pattern interrupt, and reminds us to slow down just a bit and listen to the wisdom of our body.
I consider my breath a sanctuary that I can always retreat to, no matter what is going on in the world around me. This 16 Seconds practice will always help me return to my center.
