A side by side comparing a chain drive to a belt drive.
We're often asked if belt drives are popular, or when they're going to be on more bikes. The reality is that they are only suited to limited drive train types, one cog on the crank and one on the rear wheel.
This will allow for the use of a gearbox or internal hub or a single speed option.
Chains are affordable and reasonably easy to maintain and can be found at short notice though they do not last as long as a belt.
Belts are more expensive, no cleaning or lubricating required and last much longer than a chain.

Ever wondered what's inside a hydraulic disc brake caliper?
We thought it'd be cool to open one up and show you the magic, or lack of depending on how you look at it.

A fluid, D.O.T or Mineral oil, is forced through the hose from the lever to the caliper when the brake lever is pulled and applies pressure on to the piston, the small round black disks in the image. As the pistons are pushing inwards towards each other they apply a clamping force to anything between them (hopefully a brake rotor and brake pad set!)

We tried to show you the caliper in stages of disassembly so that it was clearer to see which part comes from where. Hope you enjoy it.

We're often asked "What do you do in a service?"
The answer is usually something along the lines of "It depends on the bike."
Ultimately though we check everything, and we mean everything.
Is every bolt torqued correctly?
What condition is the chain in?
Do the brake pads have much life left?
Are the bearings still running smooth?
Does this person want to replace the worn grips?
The list goes on.

Every bicycle is ridden differently. Some cyclists will ride with pannier bags, some without and some towing kids in a trailer, just to name a few.

We keep all aspects of how someone might use their bike and what they need it to do and how we can get the bike to operate in the best way possible.

Hi everyone! We just completed a substantial service on a customers bike that had been put through it's paces for years.
While having the bike stripped down to the frame and giving it a thorough clean and inspection we spotted something that could easily be missed. A greasy looking scratch that turned out to be a large crack through the chainstay.
We were able to source a new replacement part for this repair and saved the customers bike and potentially thousands for a replacement bike.
