Volunteer week gone mad.

05/05/2026

Marine Rescue Broome extends our deepest condolences to Marine Rescue Ballina.

We are thinking of you all during this incredibly difficult time. Across the country, our marine rescue family stands together — united by the same commitment, courage, and mateship that defines what we do.

Our thoughts are with your members, families, and the wider community.

Take care of eachother 💙🧡

🚨 Official Handover of Ibis 3 – A Major Boost for Marine Rescue Broome 🚨

We were honoured to recently welcome the Minister for Emergency Services and the Commissioner for Emergency Services to Broome for the official handover of our new amphibious vessel, Ibis 3.

This impressive vessel features twin 300 screws and a 48‑volt electric over hydraulic amphibious system supplied by ANURA, significantly enhancing our capability to respond across Broome’s unique coastal and tidal environments. Ibis 3 is the first vessel of its kind in Marine Rescue statewide, marking a major milestone for operational capability.

A special thank you to our dedicated Marine Rescue Broome volunteers, particularly Project Managers Andrew May and Sam Willson‑Jones, who invested hundreds of hours into research, planning and collaboration to ensure this vessel meets the operational needs of our group and community.

Ibis 3 was fully funded by DFES and expertly built by Westerberg Boats in Albany, WA.

This new addition strengthens our ability to support the community and improve safety on the water.

We’re incredibly proud to welcome Ibis 3 into service and grateful to everyone involved in bringing this project to life.

👏 Thank you to all who made this possible

🚨 Important announcement from Marine Rescue Broome 🚨

After months of planning, we’re proud to announce our newest addition to the fleet…

🌊 The Amphibious Rescue Camel 🐪
✔️ Fully trained in tide navigation
✔️ Can carry 2 crew + 1 esky
✔️ Runs on seawater and stubbornness
✔️ Ideal for those very shallow sandbar rescues

We’ll be trialling the camel along Cable Beach this week. Please give way if you see it responding to an emergency (it may or may not spit under pressure).

Stay safe on the water — and on the sand! 😄
