Creating and Launching a Successful Online Course - Web Vision Solutions 02/08/2022

As you have likely noticed, the online course industry has exploded, and it is easy to look at all the marketing posts in your social feeds and want to jump into the fun of sharing your expertise with the world through your own online course(s) - not to mention, it is a great way to reach more people than you could by only engaging in 1:1 or in-person sessions.

But the reality is that it takes an incredible amount of work, dedication and costs to bring a course to life and sell it successfully.

So, based on some common conversations I have with clients I have written an article giving my opinion on three important areas for creating a successful online course which sells: the tech, the launch, and student satisfaction.

I hope you enjoy the read!

WordPress 5.0: How and When to Update 07/12/2018

It has arrived! Yes, the much talked about release of WordPress 5.0 is here. So what does this mean for you?

The new version of WordPress has some major upgrades and changes, and the new page editor is the most significant change you will see when you edit your website after the upgrade has been done. This new editor will give a lot of flexibility for non-developers when it comes to creating pages in WordPress.

But before you get excited and run the update to have a look at the new-look WordPress Editor (which they have called "Gutenberg", named after Johannes Gutenberg, who invented a printing press with movable type more than 500 years ago), I can't stress to you enough the importance of creating a BACK-UP OF YOUR SITE FIRST!

If you use a premium theme, like the Divi Theme with its great plugins such as the Divi Builder (which a lot of my clients do), don't worry, the developers of this theme have been hard at work to ensure there are no glitches when the upgrade takes place, and they have made it possible to continue to use the classic editor you are used to (if you prefer to stick with what you know). Just make sure you run the Divi updates BEFORE you update WordPress.

If you use another theme, check with the theme developer to ensure they are prepared for the upgrade.

And for those who have a WooCommerce store, yes, you need to run these updates first as well.

BIG TIP: if you don't know what you are doing...STOP! Engage your web developer to run the updates for you. This is not one of those updates you just want to click on without ensuring everything else on your website is ready for the change.

Want to know more about the upgrade, here's a great article from Wordfence for you to read: https://bit.ly/2QjQ3AC

WordPress 5.0: How and When to Update WordPress 5.0 is being released tomorrow, December 6th. This release contains a major change to the WordPress editor. The new editor, code-named Gutenberg, is a substantial leap forward in functionality. It uses a new block-based system for editing which allows you to embed a wide range of content i...
