A Nitazene has been detected in a counterfeit Oxy tablet brought in for testing to Cheqpoint Brisbane on Friday.

Initially analysis confirmed the presence of a Nitazene and secondary testing is underway to confirm the particular type. We will provide updates as they are available.

😵‍💫 We found nitazene in fake oxys again (BRISBANE) 😵‍💫

-In Nov 2024, we found a nitazene in a light blue tablet marked ‘M30’ which was sold as oxycodone. We did secondary analysis and detected that it was specifically protonitazene, which is 200x stronger than morphine (and also stronger than he**in and fentanyl).
-Yesterday (3/1/25) we had another sample brought in with the same appearance. Initial testing showed that it contained a nitazene. We haven’t done secondary analysis yet.
-Basically, it looks like this fake-oxy-containing-nitazene is still going around. A very small amount of nitazene can result in opioid overdose.

❔Fillers: the stuff that’s not drugs, in drugs.

When people talk about drugs, they’re usually thinking about the active ingredient (like M**A) - these are psychoactive compounds.

Most of the stuff we test contains what people expect, but sometimes we find some unexpected things. In some cases, the unexpected things are psychoactive (it gives other effects, like adulterants or additional substances). In other cases, the unexpected things are inactive fillers.

Some fillers have long names that can sound a bit intimidating (like methylsulfonemethane). Others are more familiar words (like lactose).

-We’ve found protonitazene in a light blue tablet marked ‘M30’ and sold as oxycodone.
-Protonitazine is 200x more potent than morphine, which means it’s also much stronger than he**in and fentanyl. This means a very small amount can lead to overdose.
-Keep naloxone on you. You might a repeat/higher dose for nitazenes. Check highlights for info on where to get naloxone.
-We can test your stuff for free, with detailed analysis of what’s in there. You can also get nitazene test strips online.

-We’ve found nitazene in a light blue tablet marked ‘M30’ and sold as oxycodone.

-Nitazenes vary in strength, but they’re known for being STRONG opioids. Some are stronger than fentanyl and up to 500x more potent than he**in. This means a very small amount can lead to overdose.
