Last week it came out there was an online “r*pe academy” where men were teaching each other how to assault their wives and girlfriends.

And the overwhelming reaction from men?

Not outrage. Not protection. Semantics about the data. Claims that the issue was being exaggerated as a way to attack them.

That reflex to distance, defend and centre their own feelings instead of the harm - that’s the issue.

Because a man who can’t see past his own discomfort, who is more concerned with not being lumped in with the bag guys than with what’s actually happening is showing a fundamental lack of empathy.

And a lack of empathy is a risk. Because it’s a lack of empathy and capacity to centre someone else’s expertise that is the at the root of the harm the bad men are inflicting on the world.

If protecting identity matters more than acknowledging harm, you’re not separate from the problem. You’re part of it.

Safe men protect victims - not egos ❤️

It is absolutely disgusting that the Queensland government has blocked access to gender affirming healthcare for trans youth.

But we are strong in our numbers.

And together we can create change.
