Upcycling Light: Modern Performance, Original Form

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre recently engaged our QLD distributor, Luxson Illumination, to explore refurbishment options for several exterior metal-halide luminaires on the Plaza terrace. These fixtures hold architectural significance as part of the venue’s iconic façade, so preserving their form while elevating performance was essential.

Digilin was invited to develop a modern, energy-efficient solution by designing custom RGBW LED modules engineered to retrofit seamlessly into the existing housings. Control of the upgraded luminaires is managed through Casambi, giving the venue full access to the RGBW spectrum with intuitive wireless operation.

Our R&D team designed and manufactured purpose-built retrofit components to meet the project’s mechanical, optical, and thermal requirements—ensuring the original luminaires were honoured while delivering a new level of capability.

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre team is extremely pleased with the result, which provides a dynamic lighting feature that enhances the visitor experience and contributes to Brisbane’s cityscape.

The team designed and rebuilt the luminaires to achieve:
