My ex’s father was a traumatised war vet. He wanted to help her, but his conditioned response to her negative emotion was channelled towards defensive aggression (not realising how it affected her attachment). Buoyed by their success in removing Maduro, the USA have attacked Iran, hoping for a quick war and regime change. The USA want to halt Iran’s nuclear capabilities and stem the tide of state sponsored terrorism from Iran’s proxies. Now it has started I pray it is quick, but this has not been our experience with Afghanistan and Iraq. Iran has a strong internal security apparatus and not much of a unified opposition. A foreign attack can lead to a “rally around the flag” effect. If the regime does fall, there will be a power vacuum and a power struggle. I have many Iranian friends in Australia, the general sentiment I hear from them is that they are unsupportive of the regime, though they are also worried about their home and family. It’s a shame. The world owes a lot to Iran for its contribution to science, art, philosophy and governance. The repressive government does not reflect the hospitality and solidarity of their people.
