The Sheil Collection

The first, in collaboration with glass artist Laszlo, is a spectacular plate depicting an abstract Brisbane River, "Brisbane Dreaming" – the plate is available in 3 background colours Blue, Mango and Lime Green. Laszlo's description of his inspiration is, "I know that Brisbane is pretty dull in terms of colour, but I'm using a bit of creative licence here. The image is an aerial view of the city, expressing a 'map' with some major roads and three big landmarks - The Gabba, The Showgrounds and the Suncorp Stadium."

The plate/tray size is 19.5 x 19.5cm with a 3.5cm raised border, making it not only an aesthetic art piece but a functional piece being food safe, able to hold food for presentation - cups of coffee, wine glasses or nicks and knacks.

The hues of orange (the sun) creeping up and over the horizon under the vibrant blue skies – unbelievably awe-inspiring. The piece stands 50cm high on a base 14cm diameter with the top opening 19cm.

The sunrise represents that there is always hope in the face of adversity. No matter how devastating our lives get thrown into, there always is support and love from others to draw on if we wish to accept it.
