"Buy when everyone else is selling..." ππ
J. Paul Getty wasn't just talking about the stock market; he was talking about discipline.
In small business, it is easy to follow the herd.
Competitors are slashing prices? You feel like you should too.
Everyone is over-hiring? You feel the pressure to expand.
But true success comes from having the confidence to swim against the tide.
To do that, you need to trust your own numbers more than you trust the "noise" of the market. If your books are solid, you can afford to hold steady when everyone else is panicking.
Stay calm. Trust your data. Play the long game.

"They mostly wrap..." π΅π₯
We apologise in advance for this one! But we couldn't resist a terrible music pun to finish the week.
We are officially "wrapping" up at First Class Accounts for the weekend. We hope you've hit all your high notes this week!
Have a great one, everyone. π

New year, new goals. π
But before you set random targets for 2026, you need to know where the bar is actually set.
Term of the Week: Benchmarking This is the process of comparing your business metrics against industry standards.
Are your wages too high compared to other cafes?
Is your profit margin healthy for a trade business?
Don't just guess your goals this year. Use benchmarking to see what is actually possible.
Let's make 2026 your smartest year yet.

Term of the Week: Cash Flow πΈ
Itβs the most important concept to understand before you close up for Christmas.
Here is the simple truth: Profit is what you make on paper. Cash Flow is what you actually have in the bank to pay the bills.
You can be a "profitable" business and still struggle in January if all your money is tied up in unpaid invoices while you're on holiday.
The Golden Rule: You canβt pay staff or rent with "Profit." You can only pay them with Cash.
Before you head to the beach, check your numbers. Make sure you have the buffer to bridge the gap. πβοΈ
