Australia’s fuel supply has shown signs of stabilisation, with petrol reserves rising to around 46 days following government action to secure additional imports. Energy Minister Chris Bowen confirmed improved stockpiles, supported by shipments arriving from the US, South Korea and Malaysia as global supply disruptions continue to impact shipping routes.

While petrol availability has improved and prices have eased slightly, diesel shortages remain a key concern for farmers, freight operators and regional communities, with costs still near record highs. The government has activated elements of its fuel security plan, releasing reserves and boosting supply chains, but some service stations continue to report outages.

Authorities say the situation is manageable, with further shipments expected in the coming weeks. However, industry groups warn ongoing diesel pressure could affect agriculture, logistics and broader inflation if conditions persist.
