I wouldn't normally go to or even suggest people go to the 'nail salons' in shopping centres... however earlier this year I wanted to see first hand how bad these places still are... I'm absolutely dumbfounded as to why ppl still choose these places..
Where do I start....
The work area was not sanitised between clients and while she may have used a clean hand file that was the only utensil that was cleaned between clients...
She then began work on my bare nails with the drill... this is not good practice as the high speed the drill goes at can cause damage to the nail plate... burn... ouch...
Then she mishap placed tips on each finger... no care taken to make sure they fit to nail plate properly and some even placed crooked...
Then we move to primer application then acrylic.. if you say the smell of these places doesn't bother you, you are foolish... while your senses may not be overly bothered by the smell, your body certainly will think differently... the products used in these 'cheap' salons have been banned in Australia because of their health implications.. however it is easy to access these products through Asian countries at 1/8th of the price... anyone interested Google MMA in nail services and read for yourself... not good...
Anyways... acrylic has been applied, I'm now light headed, and drill is used again to finish shape and surface..
As you can see by my photos the shape is average, there is no build up in the centre of the nail to form a nice nail curve so they look like flat slabs placed on my fingertips... and the blobs of acrylic left undernail.... yuck...
While I was able to walk straight in and have these done in about 50mins, I paid $60!! I have again been reassured that these places are s**t and I will not be returning again anytime soon....
OH AND JUST FOR THE RECORD I ONLY CHARGE $40 FOR THIS SAME SERVICE... !!!
