Last Sunday ImproLab members, Monique Buggy and Nancy Sposato, participated in a Women's Embodiment Workshop facilitated by Viviane Frehner, Colleen Coy and Kimberley McIntyre

A glorious day of immersing ourselves in open movement exploration and choreography - offered in a highly accessible way. Our cups were filled with ideas for us to bring to our ImproLab rehearsal process (pictured) and performances.

A sharing by Colleen whilst we explored group improv techniques was a reflection on thinking from luminary dance figure Deborah Hay about relationship, along the lines of..”we are always in relationship.”

This evening ImproLab will perform as part of Taranta Festival and this feels like a fantastic provocation for us to explore considering the festivals theme of belonging.

As performers, how are we in relationship with the space, ourselves, other performers and the audience? We will keep this question alive as we perform tonight.

And what is the impact on our lives if we extend this awareness to how we are beyond the performance space?

Join us Taranta Festival this weekend. We kick off with an ImproLab workshop tonight to get the creative juices flowing. Then tomorrow, alongside many cultural delights, ImproLab will be performing our craft - creating performance in the moment. Nothing that the audience will see has been performed before or will be performed again.

Such is life. Seize the moment friends - fire up your weekend and head on down to Taratanta Festival.

As part of Taranta Festival , will be sharing our deeply energising and grounding creative practice.

Join us Friday 1st Nov 4-5pm to experience the practice of performance improvisation. The session will include a warmup of movement, singing and playful physical improvisation exercises.
We promise to joyfully connect the group and yourself and each individual to their creative self.

Adults of all levels are welcome. Wear comfortable clothes for moving in, bring musical instruments for playing with and imaginations to flow and create from.

Happy place today! We opened our Friday morning studio session to other artists - dancers, actors, musicians, visual artists and writers. There was much gratitude for the cultural diversity in the space and the opportunity to play and dream alongside our creative peers.

We can't wait to see you all tomorrow night, yes to share some home grown improv AND to connect to arts lovers and community.

Stay on for a chat with the artists over a freshly brewed chai and yummy treat, plus world renowned percussionist, Greg Sheehan, with other musical guests, will bring their wicked grooves to start up the dance floor!
