If you’re thinking of congratulating eveyone for the koala park ‘win’, please don’t. Sadly they did not win. It’s all PR.

Most of Bellingen’s key koala habitat has been excluded from the park because it’s ‘just plantation’. Around 10% of the koala population will now be killed in the logging that is about to start. It’s good news for the Kalang Headwaters, but devastating for Gleniffer residents, and many other places.

The research shows the plantations are some of the best habitat in the park. Not including these impacts 10% of the koala population - that’s decimation.

Expanding the park to the west, as experts ecommended, will make no difference if the best coastal habitat is missing. 🐨☹️
