Every scar has a story. Mine taught me that resilience is built one step at a time.

Aloe, aloe! 🌿 If you thought aloe vera was only good for sunburn, think again. This spiky little overachiever has been earning its keep in my garden and kitchen for years.

I’ve shared my favourite tips on how to harvest it safely, prepare it properly, and use it in everyday life—from soothing skin to adding the fresh inner gel to recipes.

Who knew turning 60 would still involve so much Lycra? 🤣

I’m training for the future.

Three weeks ago, I walked back into the gym. Let’s just say… it wasn’t pretty.

For the previous three months, I’d swapped the gym and pool for very gentle shoulder rehabilitation following a full-thickness supraspinatus tear, along with several associated injuries.

I was tired.
Lethargic.
Bloody sore.
Frustrated.

Then I realised something…

Perhaps my shoulder wasn’t the only thing that needed rehabilitation.

Eckhart Tolle talks about the pain-body—the emotional weight we carry from old hurts, disappointments, grief and experiences that quietly shape the stories we tell ourselves.

ā€œYou’re too old.ā€
ā€œYou’ll never get your strength back.ā€
ā€œMaybe this is just how it’s going to be.ā€

Sound familiar?

The beautiful thing is that those stories don’t have to become our future.

Every time I choose to show up instead of give up, every time I move with intention instead of fear, that old narrative loses a little more of its grip.

Healing isn’t just physical.

It’s emotional.
Mental.
Spiritual.

Today’s spin session lasted 57 minutes, with an average heart rate of 113 bpm and a peak of 154 bpm.

The numbers are encouraging.

But the greatest transformation isn’t happening in my muscles.

It’s happening in my mind.

I’m building stronger bones.
A healthier heart.
Better balance.
A stronger body.
And a mindset that no longer lets yesterday dictate tomorrow.

As a chef and nutritionist, I’ve spent decades teaching that food is medicine.

When I wrote The Healing Feeling, it was never just about recipes. It was about the extraordinary connection between nourishment, movement, mindset and our innate capacity to heal when we create the right environment.

This shoulder injury has reminded me that healing isn’t simply about repairing tissue.

It’s about rebuilding confidence.
Trusting the process.
And gently quietening what Eckhart Tolle calls the pain-body—those old stories that whisper we’re not enough, we’re too old, or we’ve missed our chance.

The shoulder will heal.

The body will grow stronger.

And the old stories?

I’m leaving those behind.

From pain to progress… that’s The Healing Feeling. šŸ’™
