Is your diesel engine smoking while idling at the MacDonald's drive thru, gassing out other customers. There is a possibility that your Turbochargers bearings are excessively worn causing oil to pass the turbine seals and leak into your intake and exhaust causing oil smoke.

Subaru outback diesel EE20 engine.
Customer complaint was excessive black smoke under acceleration.
Vehicle still had a s**t load of power but boost pressure was still a little erratic.
With a turbo inspection, there where obvious signs of intake damage to the compressor wheel on the turbine shaft. Parts where unavailable to rebuild the turbo.
Unfortunately a new turbo was ex Japan 7-8 weeks. With a fair bit of hunting around. A Subaru dealer in Melbourne had 1 left. Saved the customer allot of time and money.
