From today, Australia’s new AML/CTF laws are officially in effect.
If you’re engaging a buyer’s agent, you may be asked to provide identification and information about your source of funds. It’s not because you’re under suspicion—it’s because the law now requires it.
These changes are designed to strengthen the integrity of Australia’s property market by helping prevent money laundering, terrorism financing, organised crime and fraudulent property transactions.
