A look back at 2025–2026 ✨

Children with learning disabilities don't lose confidence overnight. It's a slow drip — every red mark on a worksheet, every confused glance from a classmate, every casual comparison from a well-meaning adult.

By the time the school refusal starts, the self-esteem has been eroding for months.

The cycle is well documented. Repeated failure feedback. Social misunderstanding by peers. Academic pressures that don't slow down for the child still trying to find their pace. Each one stacks until withdrawal feels safer than trying.

Australian strength-based research from 2023-2025 keeps arriving at the same insight: explicit social skills training and "process praise" — praising effort, not outcome — rebuild resilience faster than any pep talk.

The shift from "you're so smart" to "I love how hard you tried" changes the conversation a child has with themselves.

At Senami, our early intervention programs anchor every session to the child's existing strengths. Wins journals. Role-play practice for the playground. Coaching the language of "I can't do it YET." Small daily reframes that compound.

If your child has gone quiet about school, it's time to look closer.
