Feeling nervous before you speak? Try this: take a deep breath, pause for 3 seconds, and make eye contact with a friendly face in the audience. This simple technique slows your heart rate, projects confidence, and gives your audience time to settle in. At Tea Tree Gully Toastmasters, we practise techniques like this every fortnight.
