Some people donate a prize.
Some people donate their time.
And then there are people like David. ❤️

At our Gala, David from Dapper Chap Gin generously donated an incredible auction prize. But that’s just who he is.

Today he popped into the office to collect a few items he’d won in the silent auction and, completely unexpectedly, gifted Bailee and Mel this beautiful bottle of Long Lunch Gin just because.

Honestly… can you get any kinder than that?

What people don’t always see is that David isn’t just generous with gifts. He’s one of the first to send a message when something significant happens at Puddle Jumpers. He celebrates the wins, checks in during the tough times, and genuinely cares about the children and families we support.

The people in our corner make all the difference, and we are incredibly lucky to have David in ours.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity and your big heart. We can’t wait to crack open this beauty and enjoy a Long Lunch in your honour! 🍸💚

David, you’re an absolute legend. x

“I Don’t Have Any.”

Years ago, a little boy arrived at camp carrying a plastic shopping bag.

Not a suitcase.
Not a backpack.

Just a bag with one change of clothes.

One of our volunteers smiled and asked, “Did you forget your pyjamas, mate?”

He looked down and quietly replied,

“I don’t have any.”

Not I forgot them.

Not Mum forgot to pack them.

Just…

“I don’t have any.”

And he said it so matter-of-factly that it broke our hearts.

Because to him, it wasn’t unusual.

He had simply never owned a pair.

That night, while the other children changed into their pyjamas and snuggled into bed, we scrambled to find something for him.

And we made ourselves a promise.

Never again.

Never again would a child come to camp and feel different because of what they didn’t have.

Never again would a child lie awake embarrassed because everyone else had pyjamas and they didn’t.

And so, from that moment on, it became part of who we are.

Every single child who attends a Puddle Jumpers camp receives their very own pyjamas.

Not borrowed.

Not handed back at the end.

Theirs.

To keep.

Because pyjamas are never really just pyjamas.

They’re dignity.

They’re comfort.

They’re that feeling of climbing into bed and knowing you’re safe.

They’re the quiet message we want every child to hear:

“You matter enough for someone to think of this.”

We’ve now handed out hundreds and hundreds of pairs over the years.

And every time we fold another set into a camp bag, I think about that little boy.

I wonder if he remembers.

I know we do.

Because sometimes people think our camps are about canoeing, craft, campfires and fun.

And they are.

But they’re also about noticing the little things that tell a child:

You are loved.
You are worthy.
And from this day forward, you never have to go without pyjamas again.

❤️

Because every child deserves more than a bed to sleep in.

Every child deserves to feel at home.

🥖 WE’VE RUN OUT OF BREAD BAGS… AGAIN!

This photo says it all.

Today at our Food Hub, we had shelves full of beautiful bread generously donated for families doing it tough. But when I asked why some of the bread was sitting loose in boxes, the answer was simple:

“We’ve run out of bags again. We just can’t keep up.”

And honestly? That’s a beautiful problem to have.

Because it means more people are receiving food. More families are taking home fresh bread. More children are having toast for breakfast tomorrow morning.

But now we need your help.

We’re looking for donations of:

🍞 Bread bags/plastic bread sleeves
🔴 Bread bag tape or clips
⚙️ A bread bag sealing machine (like the one pictured)
📦 Or even a financial donation so we can purchase supplies in bulk.

We go through hundreds and hundreds of bags, and keeping up with demand is becoming harder each week.

If you know:
✅ A bakery supplier
✅ A packaging company
✅ A business upgrading equipment
✅ Or simply have some spare supplies sitting around…

Please send us a message.

Because something as simple as a plastic bag means another loaf of bread can safely make its way home to a family who needs it.

And if you happen to know where we can buy these cheaply, we’d love those recommendations too!

As always, thank you for helping us make sure good food doesn’t go to waste and that no one in our community misses out. ❤️
