Today we're starting with revenue and sales; both mean the same thing, but a lot of business owners have been using both words without knowing they're referring to the exact same number.

Your revenue is every dollar that comes into your business before anything gets taken out.

If you're a plumber and you send out two invoices this month for $1,000 each, your revenue for that month is $2,000.

Everything else we talk about in business, your profit, your margins, your breakeven, it all starts from this number. If that number isn't clear, none of the ones after it will be either.
