Autism is trending.
But for many autistic people, daily experiences haven’t changed.
Autistic Pride Day is a global campaign led by autistic people—centred on identity, inclusion, and moving beyond awareness to meaningful action.
It’s a reminder that noticing autism is not the same as supporting autistic people.
At Autism SA, we support Autistic Pride Day and the voices of autistic people in shaping more inclusive communities, workplaces and systems.
Today is about listening to autistic voices, recognising lived experience, and focusing on what needs to change—across workplaces, systems, and communities.

Experiences of Needs Assessments Across the Lifespan – Community Consultations
Autism SA, supported by the Office for Autism, is undertaking research to better understand the experiences of autistic people, parents, carers, supporters and community members who have participated in needs assessments across the lifespan.
This includes experiences of autism diagnostic assessments, functional capacity assessments, occupational therapy assessments, speech pathology assessments, and other assessments used to identify support needs.
Information gathered through these consultations will inform the development of training and resources for therapists and other professionals involved in conducting needs assessments.
There are a range of ways to participate, including:
✅Focus groups
✅One-to-one interviews (phone, online or in person)
✅Text-based conversations
✅Video submissions
✅Surveys
We recognise that people communicate in different ways and are committed to providing flexible participation options.
As a thank you for your time and expertise, participants who take part in a voluntary consultation activity will be offered a gift card honorarium of between $20 and $150, depending on the activity.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the Expression of Interest form and a member of the project team will contact you to discuss suitable participation options.
