You can feel really excited about things
and then get frustrated
because it starts to feel like anxiety

If that has ever happened to you
this is why

Your body runs the same response
for stress and excitement

So even when something feels good
your system can still be in go mode

It is like having one foot on the brake
and one foot on the accelerator

If you have already been in go mode
and you add excitement on top

you are not slowing things down

you are pressing the accelerator again

Tired but can’t switch off at night?
This is why.

I’m seeing this a lot right now.

You get through the day feeling tired.
By the time night comes, you are ready for bed.

Then your head hits the pillow
and your mind starts going.

You start thinking through your day.
What you didn’t get to.
What needs to happen tomorrow.
Things that did not even cross your mind earlier.

Your body feels ready to stop
but your mind keeps moving.

This is where most people think their sleep is the problem.

It isn't.

Your body is still in go mode.

You have been solving, deciding and pushing through all day.
Nothing has told your system that it is safe to slow down yet.

So when everything finally goes quiet
your brain keeps working through what is left.

That is why it shows up at night because your body hasn't shifted out of the day yet.

Sleep does not begin when you get into bed.

It begins earlier.

In how your day runs
and how you move out of it.

When you start to notice that
you stop trying to force sleep
and you start looking at what your body needs.

Have you forgotten how to do things just because you want to?

I didn’t realise how often I was checking responsibility, timing or productivity before saying yes to something.

What stood out to me was how automatic that had become. I had been managing my time and energy so tightly that very little happened without first deciding whether it was useful or necessary.

It was only when that pattern was interrupted that I noticed what changed.
