Trent Parke’s ‘Monument’ is currently showing at Schleswig City Museum in Germany, the first presentation of this body of work in Europe.
In its major summer exhibition, the Schleswig City Museum, in cooperation with the agency MAGNUM PHOTOS, Paris, and the Municipal Gallery Iserlohn, presents the poetic, darkly mysterious photographs of Australian photographer Trent Parke (born 1971). ‘Monument’ brings together black-and-white photographs taken over a period of more than 25 years on the streets of Sydney and Adelaide, Australia. For Trent Parke himself, the images he carefully compiled for the project are comparable to an imaginary time capsule that, in the event of an apocalypse, tells the story of the Earth and human existence entirely without words in cinematic images: a monument to humanity viewed from space.
‘Monument’ is on display from 26 June to 6 September 2026 in the S-Foto Forum (Exhibition Hall), Schleswig City Museum, Germany.

Sam Gold is featured in the latest issue of Art Collector Magazine, in anticipation of their upcoming solo exhibition 'Soft, until it burns' at Hugo Michell Gallery in August.
About Sam’s practice, Althea Kuzman writes: “Gold’s work harnesses the physical act of ceramic-making and its relational power to the body that shapes it. Like the moon and its tides, Gold’s push and pull through the pinching of clay creates mesmerising artworks. Water is key in this practice; it is the substance of change, transformation, and growth. “Give everything to the sea” was a phrase that Gold’s mother used to repeat to their family. This notion of giving evokes ideas of surrender, but also of trust – specifically trusting one’s gut and intuition. Clay requires water and cannot change without it. Gold’s gestures poured into the surface of the clay are bodily expressions of themselves, of their transformation.”
Sam Gold’s solo exhibition ‘Soft, until it burns’ will be presented at Hugo Michell Gallery from 27 August to 3 October 2026.
