🐻‍❄️ Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? 🐻‍❄️

Our Toddler 2 children have been captivated by the much-loved story "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"

Recognising this emerging interest, our Educators have intentionally scaffolded the children's learning by embedding the story into our environment and program.

Over the past month, the children have explored a variety of planned experiences inspired by the book.

❤️🔶 Paint Shapes 🟡🟩

In Kindy 2, to support school readiness and the children's interest in creative expression, Educators set up paint bags on the window, alongside shape flashcards.

The children were invited to practice drawing a shape into each paint bag, highlighting their outline as their finger pressed through the paint.

This child-led approach encouraged children to investigate, experiment, and build familiarity with shapes in an engaging and meaningful way.

Pom-Pom Matching!

The children participated in a pom pom pattern-matching activity using laminated pattern cards and a variety of coloured pom poms in different sizes.

They carefully observed each pattern before selecting the correct pom pom, matching in colour and size to recreate the design.

This experience strengthened problem-solving and pattern recognition while also developing fine-motor skills and hand–eye coordination as children carefully positioned each pom pom.

🫗 Water pouring! 🫗

To extend on Kindy 1's interest in motor skills, the children strengthened their water pouring skills.

Each child was invited to explore pouring water using a variety of jugs and lids. Each jug contained different amounts of water, providing an extra challenge as the children poured the water into cups while trying to control the flow and avoid spilling.

The experience required the children to use careful movements and concentration as they watched the water level rise in their cups while pouring. As the children lifted, tilted and adjusted the jugs, they developed their motor skills, hand-eye coordination and control.
