Starlink's "Direct to Cell" (DTC) is an upcoming service designed to let your regular mobile phone connect directly to satellites in space, just like it would connect to a cell tower on the ground.
Starlink's DTC service will be turning satellites into space-based cell towers that your regular phone can use. This means better connectivity and fewer dead zones, keeping you connected no matter where you are on Earth. Starlink is apparnently 5 launches short to making this ambitious project a reality.

Here's a GenAI brief explanation in "simple terms:

1. Use Your Existing Phone: You don't need a special satellite phone or any extra equipment. Your current mobile phone will work with this service.

2. Satellite as a Cell Tower: Instead of your phone signal going to a nearby cell tower, it will go straight to a Starlink satellite orbiting the Earth.

3. Expanded Coverage: This technology aims to provide mobile phone coverage everywhere on the planet—even in remote areas like mountains, oceans, and deserts where cell towers don't exist.

4. How It's Possible:
Advanced Satellites: Starlink is launching new satellites equipped with technology that can communicate directly with standard mobile phones.

Few (5?!) More Launches Needed: With a few additional satellite launches, they'll have enough satellites in orbit to make this service widely available.

5. Benefits:
Stay Connected Anywhere: You'll be able to make calls, send texts, and use data services even when you're far from traditional cell service.

Emergency Situations: In cases of natural disasters or emergencies where cell towers might be down, you'll still have a way to communicate.

6. Seamless Integration: The goal is for this service to work so seamlessly that you won't notice a difference—your phone will automatically connect to the satellite when there's no cell tower available."

Researchers have figured out why sitting all day is so bad for your health

We know sitting is bad for our health, but a recent study helps explain why.
People who sit too long have signs of "subclinical injury" — not bad enough to necessitate immediate treatment but potentially dangerous over a long period of time.
Exercise seems to help, but the most important thing is just sitting less.

Researchers have figured out why sitting all day is so bad for your health Sitting all day is linked to the buildup of certain proteins called troponins, which heart muscle cells release when they're damaged.

About 13 years ago, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) asked the scientific community to create a food that soldiers could take onto the battlefield. The agency, which has been tasked with building breakthrough technologies for the US military, wanted to improve troops' physical and mental performance, turning war fighters into super-soldiers.

Researchers at University of Oxford and National Institutes of Health answered the call. With $10 million in funding from DARPA, a team of biochemists invented the ketone ester, a drink that generates energy from ketones — molecules formed by the breakdown of fat — rather than carbs, fat, or protein. It is, effectively, a fourth type of fuel for humans.

On November 6, HVMN, a startup out of San Francisco, revealed that it is bringing one of the first commercial ketone esters to market. HVMN Ketone is an FDA-reviewed drink that promises increased athletic ability, heightened focus, and energy. The company is leveraging more than a decade and $60 million-worth of research from Oxford through an exclusive partnership. (Source: The HVMN Ketone product packaging. HVMN)
