This week (June 1-7) Climate Reality Leaders and supporters across more than 50 locations worldwide are coming together for the Global Week of Action 🌍

Why? Because the climate crisis is a fossil fuels crisis - and clean energy is already the cheapest and fastest-growing source of new electricity worldwide.

Throughout the week, people around the world will:
⚡ sign the global petition calling on mayors to accelerate clean energy
⚡ contact local decision-makers
⚡ join in-person events and actions
⚡ show that communities are ready for a faster, fairer energy transition

Mayors and local leaders play a key role in bringing clean energy to communities - from cleaner air and lower bills to more resilient cities.

💰Fossil fuel companies are banking on the crisis - once again!

📈 Oil & gas companies didn't earn colossal profits through innovation or hard work. They're cashing in on a war.

✅️ Solution is there: An EU-wide tax on the colossal profits of the fossil fuel companies. A fair and effective way to lower our energy bills now & prep for future crises.

💸 You and I did not cause this crisis, but we are paying for it. Let's change that & make the polluters pay!

There are only 3,000 signatures missing to the target of 25,000. The petition will be sent to President Macron (G7 President, France), Minister Murat Kurum (COP 31 President, Türkiye), Minister Chris Bowen (COP 31 President of Negotiations, Australia), and all governments.

Governments around the world still spend over 1 trillion USD every year supporting fossil fuels - through direct subsidies and price support.

If broader costs like air pollution and climate impacts are included, the total rises to around 7 trillion USD globally.

This public funding shapes energy systems - and can either slow down or accelerate the transition.

That’s why a group of countries launched COFFIS in 2023, committing to phase out fossil fuel subsidies.

But progress has been limited so far.
This is a moment to move from commitment to implementation.
