How do countries negotiate solutions to environmental challenges that cross national borders?

At the Raiffa Academy, participants will explore this question through the RAINS/GAINS model, one of IIASA's flagship decision-support tools. Using an interactive negotiation simulation, they will step into the roles of policymakers to experience how science, economics, and negotiation come together to support collective decision-making.

Leading the session is Fabian Wagner, Dean of Capacity Development and Academic Training at IIASA and a principal research scholar in the Energy, Climate, and Environment Program. With decades of experience at the intersection of science and policy, Fabian has contributed to international efforts on air pollution, climate change, and sustainable development.
