“I looked at this picture in the Bellas Artes Museum last year. It is very big, and very, very beautiful!
The picture is of an Argentinian painter, his name is Carlos Alonso. I like all his work.
In this picture an old man is sitting on a yellow chair. He is looking at the public.
This person was an Argentinian artist too, and his name is Lino Enea Spilimbergo, he was Carlos's art teacher and an inspiration for him.
This piece was painted with acrylic paint and collage.
Spilimbergo was ill for a long time, and Carlos Alonso is showing him in that condition, in his room. Behind him there is his bed, he is naked and he has bandages on the limbs. He needs bandages on his hands and feet all the time.
We are looking at Spilimbergo, he has a painter's palette, Carlo is showing the artist in his artistic essence, for me. I think this is because he is with his tool, a chair, a bed, and anything else.
He needs nothing more than art.”
