The plumbing lines are in and the walls now covered with a timeless marble, precisely cut (rectified) in large rectangular sections. The green one is kind of mesmerizing.. like a galaxy of stars, interstellar gas, dust and dark matter. Contrasting with it in the shower area and the floor, the nero venato, a black marble with white veins. The 15cm space at the top is for dropping a ceiling for recessed lighting (the current ceiling is reinforced concrete that separates floors (entre-piso). This will bring in also a lot nicer light than before. Only thing I now wish we had planned for a gap on the edges of the suspended ceiling for LED strips to highlight the walls.

It’s happening! After about two years of planning, covid interruptions, planning, drawing, starting over, changing architect, sourcing materials, getting bids and putting together a schedule, the long awaited bathroom remodel at the PalermoLoft in Buenos Aires has started! First… some demo

The final round of plans for the bathroom remodel are in. Here are my two favorite options. One is practical, already much better than the current bathroom with more space, clean lines, more light, large sliding mirrors in the dressing area and is more affordable than the second option which is more elegant/classy with marble and wood materials and a drop down ceiling for adding as much light as needed to compensate for the darker materials. Both are timeless designs that won't age fast. Do you prefer a walk-in shower or a bathtub? Bidet or no bidet? The bidet is common in Argentina but not so much in Europe and in the US. Would you miss it?

So this year, something new and exciting in BA... I'm having a blast getting around with these e-scoots. For most of my outings, this is faster than even flagging down a cab. You're not stuck in traffic. So far, I've always found a few scoots within a block or two from the apartment. Maybe because the PalermoLoft so close to the parks. Here's what they cost me, and also a map of the service area (you can but are discouraged from parking them outside the zone). At night, they take 'em to be charged and put them back in the morning. Save time and download the apps before you go. My fav' company was Movo, but I also needed Lime and Grin. Have fun!

In the 1920s, Buenos Aires had 875 km of tramways, 99 tram lines and 3000 carriages. Buses & cars took over, but you can still catch a tram in Caballito at the corner of Mitre & José Bonifacio on Saturdays 4-7:30pm and Sundays 10am-1pm & 4-7:30pm
