Ինձ համար նկարչությունը միակ արվեստն է, որով հնարավոր է հիշողությունն ու անցյալը հավերժացնել։ Բայց դրա համար հարկավոր է կարողանալ զգալ ոչ միայն աչքով, այլև հոգով ու գույնով։
Այս նկարը շատերի համար պարզապես սենյակի պատկեր է, բայց Այնճարի մուսալեռցիների համար՝ ֆրանսիական սենյակ․ գաղթից հետո առաջին տունը, առաջին տանիքը։ Յուրաքանչյուր ոք, տեսնելով այն, գտնում է իրեն սեփական հիշողությունների գրկում։
Իսկ ինձ համար այն ժողովրդի խորհրդանիշ է ու մանկության հիշողություն։ Այս տունը գտնվում է ուղիղ մեր տան դիմաց, և այնտեղ են պահպանված իմ մանկության տպավորությունները․ ինչպես ծառ էինք մագլցում, ինչպես դագնվելով որս էինք անում, ինչպես մանկական խաղերով լցնում էինք օրը։ Այդ ամենը մնացել է իմ հիշողության մեջ՝ անջնջելի ու կենդանի։
Ասելիքս շատ է, բայց չեմ շարունակի։ Ուղղակի նայիր, ու ինքդ կգտնես։

For me, painting is the only art through which memory and the past can be immortalized. But to achieve that, one must feel it not only with the eyes, but also with the soul and with color.
To many, this painting is simply the image of a room. Yet for the Musa Dagh Armenians of Anjar, it is a French room — the very first home, the first roof after the exile. Whoever looks at it finds themselves embraced by their own memories.
For me, however, it is both a symbol of my people and a reflection of my childhood. This house stood directly across from ours, and within it are preserved my earliest memories — how we used to climb trees, how we hunted while hiding, how we filled our days with children’s games. All of it remains alive and unerasable in my memory.
