The Lost Guiding Light Collection
This collection honours the Armenian legend of Princess Tamar — a story dating back to the early 10th century.
Akhtamar Island, home to the 10th-century Armenian Holy Cross Cathedral, which served as the seat of the Armenian Apostolic Catholicosate of Aghtamar from 1116 to 1895.
The inspiration behind this collection is the statue of Princess Tamar, which stands today at Lake Sevan in Armenia, serving as a modern interpretation of the emotion and symbolism behind the historic story.
A young man from the mainland would cross dark waters each night, guided only by her light.
One night, the guiding light disappeared. Lost in the darkness and cold currents, he drowned, calling out “Akh, Tamar!” — “Oh, Tamar!”
A guiding light once lost across dark waters.
Now a legacy carried forward through AZAT MARD.
