Hi, All here, the HR manager of eworld 👩‍💻

I am often asked how I handle being a mom of 3 and the HR manager at a 60-people company. Well, it isn’t easy, but also not as hard as you might think.

I have thought about this lately and found similarities between being a mom and an HR manager. Let me share some here:

📍 Caring about the company - Just as the mother takes care of her children and nurtures them to grow to be successful and strong, the HR manager cares for the employees to see the company grow and strengthen its position in the market.

📍 Supporting and protecting - HR opens up as Human Resources. It’s my department’s job to protect and support the humans of the company, just like moms do for their kids.

📍 Always improving - Moms always look for ways to improve their home, just as HR looks for ways to improve the company.

📍 Making the office feel like home - Being a mama-bear is in my blood already. No matter what, I protect my kids, even from their dad, when they have misbehaved. And in the same way, I protect the employees of the company in the eyes of their managers.

📍 Inspiring - Mom is the biggest cheerleader for her children and always wants them to dream big, aspire for better, and facilitate growth. HR team does the same! We want mployees to grow and become better professionals in their respective fields.

📍 Expert at multitasking - On a typical day, the HR professional might deal with the personal issues of one team member, answering the intermittent leave question to the other one, all while coming up with a recruiting strategy for a hard-to-fill job.

📍 Always takes part in the decision-making process - just as decisions are dame in a family with both parents, I try to be present at all decision-making meetings that might affect the lives of my work.

I can say that work and life are so intertwined for me, as I take care of people all day - My family inspires me to give the same love and care to eworldians, just as I am inspired by them to be more assertive and fare with my children.more assertive and fare with my children.
