An elderly villager in Qala-e-Zal district of Kunduz province suffered martyrdom when he was injured along with several other civilians because he refused to give his usher and zakat to the local Taliban.

Helmand: The Taliban have told residents of Garmsir district in Helmand province that they will be punished if they do not pay their tithes (Usher) and zakat to the imams of the mosques.

In an official letter Monday, the Taliban asked residents of Garmsir district in Helmand province to pay their tithes and zakat to the imams of the mosques.

"If anyone fails to pay their tithes and zakat, they will be reported to the judiciary," the official letter reads.
