HOW STRETCH CEILINGS WERE INVENTED?
π Everything happened by accident.
In the 60s of the twentieth century, the designer was decorating β¨ the showcase for the Barrisol company, that was manufacturing the aluminum profiles.
He decided to be creative and pulled a fabric on the aluminum profile for decoration. It turned out to be a great idea π. Colleagues liked a new way of finishing, and started to apply it in their work.
Polyvinyl chloride π§ͺ, obtained in the 19th century by the French scientist Victor Regnault, was used as a material.
Soon several variations of PVC material were created β matte, satin and glossy. Hence the name "French ceilings".
People immediately fell in love with new ways of ceiling decorating π₯, because of the variety of colors, the speed of installation and the ability to retain water in case of leaks.
Later, the same material began to be manufactured in other European and Asian countries, and the distribution of production across several countries allowed to reduce the price π°.

MYTHS ABOUT STRETCH CEILINGS
1οΈβ£ Myth #1 β "High price"
The service life of the stretch ceiling is from 15 years. During this period of time, any other ceiling - gypsum or foam, will have to be reconstructed from 4 to 6 times or completely replaced at least 1-2 times.π§ Thus, the price of a stretch ceiling is at least 2 times less than the price for ceilings made of other materials.
2οΈβ£ Myth # 2 β "Toxicity and harm"
One of the most common materials is used β polyvinyl chloride (PVC). For several decades it has been used in π©Ίmedicine, electrical engineering, household and construction industries.
The success of the material is caused not only by the absence of harmful substances and the fact, that it is hypoallergenic, but also by a unique combination of properties:
β does not absorb liquids π¦ and odors;
β does not conduct electric current β‘οΈ;
β does not promote the growth of bacteria π¦ and fungus.
To sum up: a stretch ceiling is not a source of harm to humans, but on the contrary, blocks many harmful effects.
3οΈβ£ Myth # 3 β "You can easily punch through with your fist π"
The reality is that in order to damage the stretch ceiling, it is necessary to apply an effort with an emphasis of 100 kg. At the same time, it must be performed with a sharp object (πͺ), not comparable to a fist. But even in the case of a knife cut, there are ways to eliminate the damage.
4οΈβ£ Myth # 4 β "Sagging over time"
Even after flooding π¦, sagging will disappear after the water draining. Sagging of the ceiling can only be caused by systematic violation of exploitation rules (intentional heating π₯ to a significant temperature, installation of heavy communication systems, etc.).
5οΈβ£ Myth #5 β "Unpleasant smell π¨"
At the heart of the misconception is the issue of smell. Stretch ceiling in this case is often compared with plastic windows πͺ: a slight smell of new material stays in the room for no more than 1.5 weeks, and completely disappears after that time.
6οΈβ£ Myth # 6 β "It will fall on the head"
The installation of ceilings takes place on metal or plastic profiles, which are fixed by drilling π© the walls. No temporary materials (such as glue) are used in this procedure.
