Once in a Life Time

The Lake Hillier is a lake on Middle Island, Western Australia, with the main feature of the pink color. The lake is saturated with salt, the colour is permanent, and does not alter when the water is taken in a container. The source of the pink color is still not proven in this case, but in other lakes of the region is due to either the organisms Dunaliella salina and Halobacteria or red halophilic bacteria in the salt crusts.
