Leopard sharks like those seen here are found all year in San Diego. They are completely harmless, the only time they have bitten anyone is when caught by fishermen and even then their bite is not much concern.

This was last fall when they began schooling much further north than usual, ending up right in the same zone for swimmers and boogie boarders. And yes, the people all knew about the sharks, that's what attracts so many tourists to come see them here!
