Edge lifting is the most common failure mode in PPF installations and it is almost always caused by improper edge preparation, inadequate adhesion or environmental stress on untucked edges 🫣

On high quality installations edges are tucked under panels (into door jambs, around headlight housings, into bumper grilles) so no film edge is visible from normal viewing angles.

Rushed installers leave edges exposed, which looks cheap and collects dirt!

Edges reveal installer skill more than any other area. Cuts should follow natural body lines with smooth transitions between panels. Where possible edges should be wrapped or tucked (not visibly lifting or peeling).

When you are assessing a PPF installation, on a car you own or one you are considering,run your fingers along the door jambs, the bonnet lip, the bumper edges. The film should be invisible and flush. If you can feel or see it lifting at any point moisture and debris are already working their way underneath.

Invisible edges are more about patient craftsmanship than high speed application…
