VIRGINIE BRUNET: CRAFTING A FRENCH VISION OF SHOU-SUGI-BAN

Continuing our exploration of shou-sugi-ban and its role in modern design, we’re excited to feature the work of Virginie Brunet, a talented artisan discovered at the recent Immersion/s fair.

After 20 years in digital art direction, Virginie transitioned into the world of fine woodworking and art furniture. Her approach is rooted in traditional Japanese craftsmanship and the “wabi-sabi” philosophy, which celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the passage of time.

Virginie’s techniques are truly innovative, enabling her to work on large surfaces and, most notably, three-dimensional volumes. This expands the potential of shou-sugi-ban, applying it to furniture pieces, transforming aged objects, and creating unique designs.

ANTOINE DARIULE - ARTIST AND DESIGNER IN METAL

Self-taught and passionate about history, Antoine Dariule elevates brass marquetry with exceptional mastery. Engravings, patinas, and textures transform metal into vibrant surfaces, playing with light and contrasts.
His unique creations combine noble materials – wood, leather, mother-of-pearl – and reinterpret French tradition with a contemporary vision. Furniture, art objects, decorative panels: each piece embodies innovation and refinement.
Antoine Dariule is our 2024 discovery, a promising talent for our future interior design projects.
