Child Protection Society

Today, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and its partners, Child Protection Society, Edt - Africa, Zimbabwe Network of Early Childhood Development Actors, and Municipal Development Partnership for Eastern and Southern Africa, with support from the Federer Foundation, convened the Foundational Learning Symposium to reflect on progress, share lessons, and strengthen collective action towards improving foundational learning outcomes for children in Zimbabwe under the School Readiness Initiative.

The symposium brought together key stakeholders from government, development partners, local authorities, academia, civil society, and the private sector. It was graced by the Honourable Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Hon. Torerayi Moyo, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Moses Mhike, senior government officials, and representatives of the Roger Federer Foundation.

In his keynote address, Hon. Moyo emphasized the importance of strong foundational learning as the cornerstone of quality education, highlighting the need for collaboration, teacher capacity development, supportive learning environments, and community ownership to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive.

The symposium reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening foundational learning through partnerships, innovation, and evidence-based approaches that place children at the centre of development.

Together, we are strengthening foundational learning for every child in Zimbabwe.
