HAPPY GLOBAL DAY OF PARENTS.

Today, 1 June, the United Nations invites the world to honour parents and caregivers for their selfless commitment to children and lifelong sacrifice in nurturing that relationship.

The 2025 theme is "Raising Parents" β€” an essential reminder that parenting is a learned skill, not an instinct. No one is ever fully prepared for parenthood. Every parent needs time, resources, support, and the freedom to grow into their role.

At Family Impact, we see this truth every day.

Parents show up exhausted, uncertain, and carrying the weight of generations. But with the right tools β€” practical parenting workshops, counselling, community support, and faith-based encouragement β€” they grow. They become more patient, more intentional, and more present.

πŸ“’ To every parent reading this:
You are not failing because you don't have all the answers. Parenting is a journey of endless learning. Your willingness to keep trying, keep showing up, and keep loving is the win.

Today, we celebrate you β€” not for being perfect, but for being present.

Mental health struggles are not a sign of weakness. Yet across Africa, over 116 million people live with a mental health conditionβ€”and too many suffer in silence.

In Zimbabwe, marital problems, work stress, grief, and financial pressure are common contributors to depression and anxiety. But you don't have to wait for a crisis to seek help.

πŸ’‘ Did you know?
60–65% of people experience a significant reduction in their main issues after just 1–7 sessions of counselling.

Counselling is not just for couples. It is for anyone who needs a safe, confidential space to work through:

Anxiety, depression, or trauma

Grief and loss

Work or financial stress

Low self‑esteem or identity struggles

Family conflict or parenting challenges

Loneliness or emotional numbness

As one therapist noted: "Many people are physically present in their own lives but emotionally absent. Screens, busyness, or silence have replaced genuine connection with themselves and others."

πŸ“’ Your struggles do not disqualify you from help. They are the reason help exists.

LOVE IS A COMMAND

Marriage is not sustained by emotions alone. Feelings may change from day to day, but real love is revealed through intentional choices, commitment, sacrifice, patience, and consistent care for one another.

Agape love chooses to act in the best interest of a spouse even during difficult moments, misunderstandings, stress, or emotional distance. It is a love rooted not only in emotion, but in character, grace, and selflessness.

Healthy marriages are built when couples choose kindness over pride, understanding over anger, and unity over division β€” even when it is not easy.

πŸ’‘ Love grows strongest when it becomes a daily decision, not just a passing feeling.

πŸ“– β€œLet all that you do be done in love.” β€” 1 Corinthians 16:14

REMAINING UNITED IN THE STORM

Every marriage faces seasons of pressure, uncertainty, and hardship. In difficult moments, it can become easy to turn against one another instead of standing together.

The story of Job reminds us that even in suffering, faith, unity, and trust in God’s sovereignty matter. Challenges may test a home, but they can also strengthen it when couples choose patience, prayer, understanding, and support for one another.

πŸ’‘ Storms are easier to face when couples fight for each other, not against each other.

πŸ“– β€œThough one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” β€” Ecclesiastes 4:12
