📢 PUBLIC NOTICE: Call for the Finalisation of Deceased Estates

Do you have an interest in a deceased estate as a beneficiary, executor, administrator, or family member?

Visit the Office of the Master of the High Court where the estate is registered on or before 31 July 2026 to receive guidance on the necessary steps toward finalisation.

On Saturday, 4 July 2026, BPRA convened a Ward 9 residents' meeting at Mpopoma Hall, creating a platform for community members, churches, businesses, youth, and local leaders to discuss two issues with a direct impact on everyday life; title deeds and the City of Bulawayo's billing system.

The discussions provided residents with an opportunity to ask questions, share lived experiences, raise concerns, and put forward practical recommendations.

Such conversations are essential in promoting transparency, accountability, and ensuring that residents' voices are reflected in local governance processes.

What does it really mean to have digital rights?

Yesterday, in partnership with Paradigm Initiative, we concluded a two-day Digital Rights Academy that challenged participants to think beyond technology and consider the rights, freedoms, and responsibilities that come with living in an increasingly digital world.

Across the two days, we unpacked the foundations of digital rights, examined Zimbabwe's digital rights and inclusion landscape, and explored pressing issues such as internet shutdowns, data protection and privacy, online freedom of expression, cyber legislation, misinformation and disinformation, digital storytelling for advocacy, technology-facilitated gender-based violence, and digital security.

One of the strongest reflections from the academy was that digital rights are not abstract concepts they affect how we communicate, access information, organise, learn, and participate in society every day.

The discussions also revealed several important realities:
• Anonymity is a right and plays a vital role in protecting freedom of expression and privacy.
• There remains a significant gap in public understanding of digital rights and the protections available to citizens.
• Internet shutdowns undermine fundamental rights and should never become a normal response.
• Protecting our personal data and strengthening digital security is no longer optional it is essential.
• More work is needed to ensure that children's digital rights are effectively implemented and protected in Zimbabwe.

As digital technologies continue to shape our lives, building digital literacy and strengthening digital rights awareness is more important than ever. The conversations sparked during this academy are only the beginning. The real impact lies in applying this knowledge, advocating for rights-respecting digital policies, and ensuring that no one is left behind in Zimbabwe's digital future.

📣Day 2 of the Digital Rights Academy

In collaboration with Paradigm Initiative, we continue with Day 2 of the Digital Rights Academy, focusing on practical and policy issues shaping the digital landscape.

Today's discussions focus on cyber legislation and its impact on digital rights, digital storytelling for advocacy, building networks and collaborations for activism, and the role of technology in addressing gender-based violence.

Participants will also engage on digital inclusion for vulnerable groups, the development of digital rights advocacy campaigns, and strengthening digital security through practical sessions on online safety, encrypted communication, and secure browsing.

These conversations will help equip stakeholders with the knowledge and tools needed to promote a more inclusive, secure, and rights-respecting digital ecosystem.

Building Knowledge, Strengthening Digital Rights Advocacy

BPRA, in collaboration with Paradigm Initiative, is currently hosting a two-day Digital Rights Academy workshop aimed at raising awareness, increasing knowledge of digital rights and digital inclusion, and strengthening stakeholders' capacity to advance innovation-friendly, inclusive, and human rights-respecting digital policies.
The workshop brings together diverse stakeholders for engaging discussions on digital rights, digital governance, and the role of citizens in shaping an inclusive digital future.
