Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company (LWSC) has noted with concern an increase in cases where our employees are being harassed, bullied, verbally abused and physically attacked while on duty, particularly during meter reading and disconnection exercises.

We strongly condemn such behavior as it endangers our staff and hinders our mandate to provide customers with reliable water and sanitation services. LWSC employees perform crucial tasks like reading meters, repairing water supply systems, inspecting sewers and generally responding to faults and emergencies.

Pursuant to Section 32(3) of the Water Supply and Sanitation Act No. 28 of 1997, LWSC staff have the legal right to access all private and public properties for carrying out their duties. Any obstruction or intimidation of our employees is unlawful and shall be reported to the Police for protection of our employees.

While we respect our customers' rights, harassment of our staff will not be accepted. Customers with any concerns or grievances, can submit them through the proper channels; visit the nearest customer service offices or call the Customer Call Centre on 5957 or Email: [email protected].

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and support as we strive to serve you better.
