The Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) has been working tirelessly in disease surveillance, outbreak response, and emergency preparedness—but we must all agree: more needs to be done.

We face limited resources and often critical shortages in manpower, yet our country is filled with trained, dedicated professionals waiting to serve. Among them are our Public Health Nurses, a force with unmatched community knowledge and preventative health skills.

🧍🏽‍♀️🧍🏾‍♂️Sadly, despite many Public Health Nurses being trained and qualified, they have been overlooked and underutilized, with only a few being recruited in national intakes. This is a missed opportunity—because these nurses are not just health workers, they are change agents in every village, town, and city.

But here’s the message today:

🌟 THINGS WILL CHANGE.

Zambia is full of potential. We believe in our systems, and we believe in our people. With stronger investment, better planning, and the political will to prioritize community health, our country can turn the tide on outbreaks, maternal deaths, poor sanitation, and more.

💡 Let’s advocate for:
✅ Increased recruitment of Public Health Nurses
✅ Better resource allocation for emergency response
✅ Community-based prevention and surveillance efforts

🗣️ To every Public Health Nurse reading this: your time is coming. Do not give up. Zambia needs you more than ever.Zambia National Public Health Institute , Ministry of Health Zambia ,Ministry of Information and Media - Zambia Public Health Nursing school, Nishtar Hospital Multan

🛑 ALCOHOL & SUKO DURING PREGNANCY – THE HIDDEN DANGER TO YOUR BABY'S FUTURE 🛑

“That child is dull!”
We hear this too often. But have we ever stopped to ask why?
Sometimes, it's not the child’s fault.
It's the decisions made during pregnancy that affect a child for life.

👉 Drinking alcohol and smoking suko (to***co) during pregnancy poison the unborn child.
These harmful substances pass directly from the mother to the baby through the placenta, damaging the brain, heart, lungs, and even the child's ability to think and learn.

🧠 Possible outcomes include:

Learning difficulties in school

Delayed speech and walking

Attention and memory problems

Low IQ and poor performance

Aggressive behavior or emotional instability

💔 Some children are born addicted, weak, or with physical deformities – not because God made them that way, but because of what they were exposed to in the womb.

🔴 Let’s be honest: These substances destroy lives before they even begin.

That future nurse may never make it to class.

That future businesswoman may struggle to count coins.

That future doctor may never be able to write their name.

That future teacher may never stand in front of a chalkboard.

🫂 To all pregnant mothers, we plead with love:
Do it for your child.
Put down the bottle. Throw away the suko.
No matter how stressed you are, remember:
You’re carrying a nation builder. 💪

💬 Your womb is not a place for poison. It's a sacred space for dreams to grow.
Let’s protect that dream. Let's protect that life.

❤️ Together, we can raise a healthier, smarter generation.
Say NO to alcohol. Say NO to suko.
Say YES to a bright future. 🌟
