Change begins with a conversation, but it thrives through action.

Today, the Evelyn Hone College Disability Rights Association (EHCODRA) hosted a powerful Facilitation Meeting at the Old Canteen. Driven by the theme "ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR INCLUSION: Leaving No One Behind," the discussion brought students and advocates together to talk about real, practical change on campus.

From raising awareness about adaptive tools to actively identifying and dismantling the barriers faced by students with disabilities, the energy in the room was all about building a more inclusive community.
Technology has the power to bridge gaps, but it takes collective voices to make it happen.
Your voice matters. Be part of the change!

PRESS STATEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Evelyn Hone College Disabilities Rights Association (EHCODRA) welcomes the announcement made yesterday by the Ministry of Information and Media regarding the enactment of free education as law in Zambia.

This milestone reflects the collective efforts of the Government, Parliament, and the general public in recognizing education as a fundamental right for all. It marks an important step toward strengthening equity, inclusion, and equal opportunity across the country.

For persons with disabilities, this development is especially significant. Many have historically faced financial and structural barriers that limited access to education. With free education now enshrined in law, more learners with disabilities have an opportunity not only to enroll, but to remain in school and complete their studies without the burden of financial constraints.

This is more than a policy shift it is a pathway to empowerment, independence, and dignity. Education plays a critical role in unlocking potential, creating opportunities, and enabling meaningful participation in society.

As Evelyn Hone College Disabilities Rights Association, we strongly encourage persons with disabilities across Zambia to take full advantage of this opportunity and pursue their educational goals. This is a moment to step forward, believe in your potential, and invest in your future.

We also urge continued efforts to ensure that education is not only free, but truly inclusive through accessible infrastructure, appropriate learning materials, and supportive environments for all learners.

Together, let us build a Zambia where education is accessible, inclusive, and transformative for everyone.

Issued by:
Mwiza Banda.
President/Founder -EHCODRA.

ADMIN IS HAPPY LELO.🥳🤩
20,162 person's with disabilities are voting this year.🇿🇲🥹

As the Evelyn Hone College Disabilities Rights Association, we warmly welcome the announcement by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) that 20,162 persons with disabilities have registered to vote.

This milestone reflects meaningful progress in advancing the political inclusion of persons with disabilities in Zambia. It shows that ongoing efforts in advocacy, awareness, and engagement are beginning to yield results, and that more individuals are stepping forward to exercise their democratic rights.

As an organization committed to promoting inclusion, rights, and equal participation, we are encouraged by this development. It signals a shift toward a more inclusive electoral process where the voices of persons with disabilities are increasingly recognized and valued.

However, while we celebrate this progress, we also emphasize the need for continued action. Barriers to full participation still exist, and it is essential that all stakeholders work collectively to ensure accessible voting environments, inclusive civic education, and equal opportunities for all.

EHCODRA remains committed to advocating for a Zambia where no one is left behind, and where every person, regardless of ability, can fully participate in national development and decision-making processes.

Ba monk naba momma, are you ready to take a step and exercise your voting rights? Let's go and vote on the 13 OF AUGUST 2026.🙌🇿🇲🙌

Yesterday, 15th April 2026, marked a historic milestone for the Evelyn Hone College Disabilities Rights Association (EHCODRA).
EHCODRA is officially on the national map.🥳🥳🥳
Yesterday our Director/President of EHCODRA Mr Mwiza Banda , had the honor of participating in a high-level national consultation convened by the Ministry of Finance and National Planning on the revision of the 2014 National Planning and Budgeting Policy.
The meeting, held at Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka, brought together 32 Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) to assess participation in national development frameworks, including the SDGs and the 8th National Development Plan. The meeting was supported by UNDP Zambia Ministry of Finance and National Planning, , Lusaka-Zambia Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities

EHCODRA’s presence at this platform signifies a major step in ensuring that the voices of students with disabilities are represented in national planning and budgeting processes. Key issues around disability inclusion, equitable resource allocation, and meaningful participation were highlighted.

This achievement reflects the power of consistent engagement, advocacy, and strategic partnerships.

EHCODRA is now on the national map.

We remain committed to promoting inclusive development, amplifying the voices of persons with disabilities, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
