PART 2: TURNING NERVES INTO ENERGY - HOW TO TRANSFORM FEAR INTO POWERFUL PRESENCE (Long Post)

Hello BEAUTIFUL people and welcome back!

Last week, we talked about WHY nerves aren't your enemy - they're energy waiting to be directed. We explored how fear is actually your body preparing you for something important.

Today, we're getting PRACTICAL!

Transforming nerves into energy requires deliberate techniques - spiritual anchoring, physical preparation, and mental reinforcement that you practice consistently.

Let me share exactly what I do. These aren't theories. These are the practices that have carried me through every nervous moment from my first broadcast to EVERYTHING I do today.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MY NERVES
Let me be completely honest with you: I still get nervous.

Every. Single. Time.

From the first day I started to today - the nerves are still there. And you know what? I've made peace with that.

Because I've learned that nervousness isn't something you eliminate. It's something you TRANSFORM.

So let me share the three practices that help me turn fear into fearless presence:

PRACTICE 1: ANCHOR YOURSELF IN TRUTH
When fear rises, I hold on to two scriptures with my LIFE - like my life depends on these scriptures. Because really, my life DOES depend on them.

Here's what I do:

Scripture 1: 2 Timothy 1:7
"God has not given me a spirit of fear. He's given me a spirit of love, power, and a sound mind."

I hold on to this scripture because fear is the root of nervousness, I believe. When I'm afraid, I stand on this word and I keep saying it over and over again.

And here's the key: The more I say it, the more I BELIEVE it. And when I believe it, fear leaves me.

I'll literally say it repeatedly - under my breath, in my mind, out loud if I can. I don't just read it once and hope for the best. I STAND on it until I feel the shift.

Scripture 2: Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me."

Sometimes it's just under my breath as we're singing the national anthem before an event starts. I'm just saying, "Lord, I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me."

And maybe because I believe it so much, I literally feel nervousness, anxiety, fear LEAVING me. Leaving me. Literally leaving me.

And I just stand strong and stand FEARLESS.

There's no time I don't stand on the scriptures. There's no time that I just, you know, on my own up and running doing things. No. I'm constantly depending on the Word.

PRACTICE 2: PREPARE YOUR ENVIRONMENT

Here's something practical that transforms my nerves: I get there EARLY.

When I arrive at a venue where I'm going to be MCing or speaking, I try to get there early so I can have a time of prayer and also just familiarize myself with the area.

But here's what I've discovered over the years: The people I talk to there make me feel comfortable.
I'll ask questions: "Oh yeah, so tell me about this organisation."
And hearing it from a PERSON is very different from reading about it in a concept note or in a brief that they've sent to me. It just brings everything to LIFE!

What I've found is that when I use what people tell me - whether it's a junior officer, somebody senior, or whoever it is from that particular company - I find that it's more impactful than what I just read about.

Don't get me wrong - what I read and how I prepare myself is also important. But what I get to hear from even an executive officer or somebody who is a junior, how THEY see the company, how THEY understand the organisation - that really helps.

It grounds me, it connects me and it calms me.

PRACTICE 3: HOLD ON TO THE POSITIVES

This one is CRITICAL: I hold on to good things people say to me.

There have been people who've approached me and said, "K***a, you've got a great voice."

I have family members - for example, Magnus and my other siblings - who've always believed in me. They say, "Oh, K***a, you know, you're really, really good."
So I hold on to the positives. That's what I do.

But here's the thing: It's people speaking into my life AND me BELIEVING what they say.

Because sometimes people can tell you you're really good, but you don't believe it. You need to BELIEVE when people encourage you and people speak into your life.

You need to stand on that and remember what God says about you. He says you're the head, you're not the tail.
These are the things that keep me going.

WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN REAL TIME

So let me paint you a picture of what happens before I step on stage or go live:
Before the event:

• I arrive early
• I pray and familiarise myself with the space
• I talk to people there - I listen to THEIR stories about the organisation
• I remind myself of the positive words spoken over me

Right before I start:

• National anthem is playing, and I'm saying my scriptures under my breath
• "God has not given me a spirit of fear..."
• "I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me..."
• I feel the nervousness LEAVING me
• I stand strong. I stand fearless.

And then I BEGIN.

THE TRANSFORMATION

Here's what I want you to understand: The nerves don't disappear. They TRANSFORM.
That anxious energy becomes:

✅ Focused presence
✅ Passionate delivery
✅ Spiritual strength
✅ Confident connection

I don't eliminate the butterflies. I teach them to fly in FORMATION.

YOUR CHALLENGE THIS WEEK

Here's what I want you to do before your next speaking opportunity, presentation, or any moment where nerves show up:

1. Find your anchor
Whether it's scripture, a mantra, or a truth you believe - write it down. Say it repeatedly until you FEEL the shift.

2. Arrive early and connect
Talk to people. Listen to their stories. Let their warmth calm your nerves.

3. Remember the positives
Write down three encouraging things people have said about you. Read them before you step up.

Then notice what happens to your nerves. They won't disappear. But they'll TRANSFORM.

Because that's the secret: You don't conquer nerves, you CHANNEL them.
And when you do? You don't just survive the moment; You OWN it!

Hello BEAUTIFUL people, happy new week 🌟

Think about POWER for a moment...

Communicators, alot of you may think power comes from being the one with the microphone. The one on stage, the one everyone is LOOKING at but that's not where real power lives.

Real power is in what you DO with that microphone while you have it.

The next time you are given the opportunity to communicate, think on these things. Am I using this opportunity to shine the spotlight on MYSELF, or am I directing it toward others who deserve to be SEEN? Am I speaking just to be heard, or am I amplifying voices that need to be AMPLIFIED? Am I taking up space, or am I creating OPPORTUNITIES?

I've learned that the most powerful moments in my career weren't when people remembered MY name. They were when someone got an opportunity because I introduced THEM well. Or when a speaker felt confident because I set the stage for THEM. When someone in the audience felt seen because I acknowledged THEIR presence.

COMMUNICATORS that's what the microphone is FOR. Not to make us look good, but to make sure SOMEONE in that room gets their moment.

That microphone is for elevation, for celebration and for serving OTHERS.

So the next time you're given a platform, whether it's literal or metaphorical, ask yourself: "Who am I lifting while I'm UP here? Who will be better because I had this opportunity?"

Because that's where true power lives. Not in holding the microphone, but in what you DO with it. 🎙️✨

PART 1: TURNING NERVES INTO ENERGY - WHY FEAR ISN'T YOUR ENEMY

Hello BEAUTIFUL people and welcome back!

We're continuing our Voice of Impact series, and today we're tackling something EVERY speaker, MC, and communicator has faced: NERVES

Fear before speaking isn't a sign you're not ready - it's a sign you CARE. The key is learning to transform that nervous energy into powerful presence.

Most people think nerves are the enemy. But what if I told you they're actually your SECRET WEAPON!

WHY WE GET NERVOUS
Nerves exist because your body is preparing you for something important - and that physiological response can become your greatest asset when channeled correctly.

Your heart races, your palms sweat and your mind races through everything that could go WRONG. That's not weakness. That's your body saying: "This MATTERS to me, pay attention."

Here are the three truths about nerves that most people misunderstand:

1. Nerves Mean You Care
If you weren't nervous, it would mean you didn't care about the outcome. The butterflies in your stomach? That's PASSION trying to express itself.

2. Your Audience Can't See What You Feel

This is HUGE: What feels like crippling anxiety to YOU looks like engaged energy to your audience.
Your racing heart? They can't see it.
Your shaking hands? Most people won't notice.
Your mind going blank for 2 seconds? Feels like 10 minutes to you, but to them it's just a thoughtful pause.

SIDE NOTE: if you haven't already, read my write up on the power of silence, its the one with the Labour day photo. Now back to NERVES.

You're always more nervous inside than you LOOK outside, use this to your advantage.

3. Nerves Are Energy Waiting to Be Directed

That adrenaline pumping through your body isn't there to sabotage you. It's there to ELEVATE you.

When channeled correctly, nerves become:
Heightened focus
Increased energy
Sharper presence
Passionate delivery

The same biological response that makes you feel like running away can make you CAPTIVATING on stage.

Now picture this: You are finally given an opportunity to speak in which ever capacity, your heart is POUNDING. You think everyone can hear it through the microphone! You are CONVINCED you will fumble your words, forget EVERYTHING and SIMPLY embarrass yourself.
But you have a choice to decide what could happen!

If you DECIDE to channel that energy into your delivery. You speak with more passion, more conviction, more PRESENCE than you've ever done. Those nerves will become energy, not nervousness, ENERGY.

The feeling WON'T change, its how you USE it that will!

Next week, we'll explore the exact techniques to transform nervous energy into commanding presence - practical steps you can use before your next speaking opportunity!

I would LOVE to see you there!

Hello BEAUTIFUL people, happy new week 🌟

Imagine reading a book where you have the introduction, some middle chapters, and the conclusion but the transitions are MISSING. You can see all the important parts, but you don't understand how they FIT together.

That's exactly what happens at an event without the RIGHT MC.

You've got incredible speakers, a beautiful VENUE, important messages to share but without someone to bring it all together? It feels disjointed, people lose the thread and the momentum DIES somewhere between the salutations and the closing remarks.

My job as an MC isn't just to introduce the next person and step ASIDE. It's to be the THREAD that connects everything, to create flow where there are gaps, to build MOMENTUM that carries people from one moment to the next. That's what my AMAZING clients pay me for.

I'm the one making sure the audience understands WHY this speaker matters. How this segment connects to the LAST one and where this whole experience is TAKING them.

When I step on your stage, I'm thinking about the ENTIRE story of your event. What is the beginning that hooks people in? What is the story in the middle that keeps them ENGAGED and what is the ending that sends them out INSPIRED and clear about what just happened.

That's the work we have to do to even be CONSIDERED as great MCs. We have to turn PROGRAMS into EXPERIENCES that people will actually REMEMBER.

Because all the pieces might be there, but without the right person connecting them? The story falls APART. 📖🎤

PART 2: THE POWER OF THE PAUSE - WHEN AND HOW TO USE SILENCE STRATEGICALLY

Hello BEAUTIFUL people, welcome back to our Voice of Impact series.

Before we dive into today's topic, I want to take a moment to celebrate YOU! Happy Labour Day to everyone who shows up, does the work, and contributes their gifts to the world. Whether you're speaking on stages, hosting events, reporting stories, or building in your own way - your work MATTERS. Today, we honour that. Now, let's get back to mastering your craft!

Last week, we talked about WHY the pause is such a powerful tool in communication. We explored how silence creates emphasis, gives your audience time to process, and shows confidence.

Today, we're getting PRACTICAL!

Here's the main idea: Knowing when and how to pause strategically can transform your speaking, MCing, and interviewing from good to unforgettable.

Let me show you exactly where to use pauses for maximum impact.

WHEN TO USE THE PAUSE

Strategic pauses work best in three key moments: before important points, after powerful statements, and during transitions.

Here's the breakdown:

1. PAUSE BEFORE KEY POINTS

When you're about to say something important, pause first. This signals to your audience: "Pay attention, what's coming next matters."

Instead of rushing into your main point, take a breath. Let the anticipation build for 2-3 seconds, then deliver.

The pause makes your message land with MORE weight because you've created space for it.

I use this constantly when MCing events. Before introducing a keynote speaker, I pause, the room quiets, the energy focuses, THEN I introduce them. The applause is always bigger because the pause built the anticipation!

2. PAUSE AFTER POWERFUL STATEMENTS

When you've just said something profound, surprising, or emotional - STOP. Don't rush to the next sentence, let it breathe and give your audience time to process what you just said, let the words sink in.

This is especially powerful in storytelling. When you reach the climax or the lesson, pause and let the audience sit with it for 3-5 seconds before moving on.

3. PAUSE DURING TRANSITIONS

When you're moving from one topic to another, use a pause to signal the shift.
This is critical for MCing! When you're transitioning between speakers, segments, or moods, a well-placed pause helps the audience mentally shift with you.

Instead of saying "Thank you to our last speaker and now we move to..." all in one breath, try this: "Thank you to our last speaker." (Pause) "Now we move to..."
That pause creates a clean break. It helps the audience let go of what just happened and prepare for what's next.

Today, as we celebrate Labour Day, I'm reminded that communication is WORK. The pause we're discussing? That takes discipline. Finding your authentic voice? That takes courage. Mastering your craft? That takes COMMITMENT. So to everyone putting in the work to become better communicators, better leaders, better versions of themselves - I see you. I celebrate you. Keep going!

HOW TO PAUSE EFFECTIVELY

Effective pausing requires three things: intention, breath control, and comfort with silence.

Here's how to do it:

1. MAKE IT INTENTIONAL
Don't pause randomly. Pause with PURPOSE.
Before you speak, identify where your key points are, mark them mentally and plan to pause before or after them.

A planned pause feels confident, an accidental pause feels awkward. Know the difference!

2. BREATHE INTO THE PAUSE
Use the pause to take a deep breath.

This does two things:
- It calms YOUR nerves
- It gives the audience a natural rhythm to follow

Breathing during a pause also prevents you from filling it with "um," "uh," or other filler words. Your mouth is busy breathing - it can't fill the silence!

3. GET COMFORTABLE WITH SILENCE
This is the hardest part, but it's ESSENTIAL.
Silence feels longer to you than it does to your audience. What feels like 10 seconds to you is probably only 3 seconds to them.

Practice pausing in low-stakes conversations first. Pause after answering a question. Pause before responding. Get used to the feeling of silence without panicking to fill it.

The more comfortable YOU are with silence, the more powerful your pauses will be.

COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID

❌ Pausing too long - A strategic pause is 2-5 seconds, not 10. Any longer and you lose momentum.
❌ Filling pauses with "um" or "uh" - If you're going to pause, PAUSE. Don't sabotage it with filler words.
❌ Pausing without purpose- Random pauses confuse your audience. Intentional pauses captivate them

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MASTER THE PAUSE

✅ Your key points land with MORE impact
✅ Your audience stays engaged because you're creating rhythm and anticipation
✅ You appear more confident and in control
✅ Your message becomes MEMORABLE because you've given it space to breathe

I've seen this transformation in my own work. The speakers who master the pause? They're the ones who COMMAND attention without shouting for it.

YOUR CHALLENGE THIS WEEK

In your next conversation, presentation, or even casual chat - pause intentionally THREE times:

1. Before saying something important
2. After making a key point
3. During a transition between topics

Notice what happens. Notice how people respond. Notice how its affects YOU.

Then come back and tell me what you discovered! I would LOVE to hear how the pause shifted your communication.

Because here's the truth: Silence isn't weakness, It's POWER.

And when you learn to use it? You become unstoppable.

Hello BEAUTIFUL people and happy midweek 🌟

Can I share something that CHANGED how I approach every conversation, every event, every interaction?

I used to think being a great communicator meant having all the right WORDS. The perfect delivery and the smoothest transitions. While those things have their place, I was missing the MOST important part of COMMUNICATION.

LISTENING!

Real communication starts long before you open your MOUTH. It starts when you pay attention to the room. When you notice what people are responding to. When you pick up on the questions they're ASKING - both out loud and in their silence.

I've learned that the most POWERFUL thing I can do before I speak is to TUNE IN. What's the energy like? What are people struggling WITH? What do they need to hear that maybe no one else is saying?

Because here's the truth - when you speak without listening first, you might say something BRILLIANT. But it could completely miss the mark because it wasn't what that moment REQUIRED.

But when you LISTEN first? When you let the needs of the people guide your words? That's when your communication doesn't just sound good - it LANDS, It resonates, It creates CHANGE.

So today, practice the art of listening DEEPLY before you speak. Pay attention, be present and let what you hear shape what you SAY.

That's where real impact lives - in the space between LISTENING and speaking. 🎤✨

PART 1: THE POWER OF THE PAUSE - USING SILENCE STRATEGICALLY TO COMMAND ATTENTION

Hello BEAUTIFUL people and welcome back!

We're continuing our Voice of Impact series, and today we're tackling something that terrifies most speakers but is actually one of your MOST powerful tools: The Pause.

Silence isn't empty space to fill - it's a strategic tool that commands attention, creates impact, and gives your message room to land!

Most speakers fear the pause but master communicators??? They USE it.

Let me show you how.

WHY THE PAUSE MATTERS
The pause commands attention because it breaks the pattern, creates anticipation, and signals that something important is coming.

When everyone around you is talking non-stop, filling every second with words, what happens when YOU stop?
People notice. They lean in. They LISTEN.

Here are the three reasons the pause is so powerful:
1. It Creates Emphasis
When you pause before or after a key point, you're telling your audience: "This matters. Pay attention."
2. It Gives Your Audience Time to Process
Information needs space to sink in. When you rush from point to point without pausing, your audience can't keep up. The pause gives them time to ABSORB what you just said.
3. It Shows Confidence
Only confident speakers can hold silence. When you pause without filling it with "um," "uh," or nervous words, you're demonstrating that you're in CONTROL of the room.

I learned this over time as an MC. Naturally, I'm a fast, energetic speaker, so NATURALLY I was unsure of silence! I filled every gap with words. The result? I would "uhm" and "ah" where I felt a natural gap forming.

Then one day, I used the silence to my advantage and said to myself: "K***a, silence is not your enemy. Use it."

I paused after asking the audience to settle down. Five seconds of silence before they quietened down enough for me to make my next point.

In those five seconds, they wondered why I was silent. The anticipation in the room grew. The energy shifted.

That allowed me to present my next point with CLARITY and CERTAINTY.

That's the power of the pause.

Come back next week for Part 2, where I'll show you EXACTLY when and how to use pauses in your speaking, MCing, and interviews!

I would LOVE to see you there!

Hello BEAUTIFUL people, happy new week 🌟

CREDIBILITY is not something you claim, it's something you BUILD.
And you know what builds it?
CONSISTENCY in your authenticity. Every single time you choose to show up as your TRUE self instead of a version you think people want to see, you're making a deposit.

Every time you speak honestly even when it's UNCOMFORTABLE. Every time you admit you don't have all the answers. Every time you let people see the REAL you - the journey, the growth, the lessons learned - you're building TRUST.

Trust is the FOUNDATION of everything meaningful. It's what makes people lean in when you speak. It's what makes your words LAND. It's what turns casual observers into a community that actually BELIEVES in what you're saying.

But here's the thing about credibility - you can't fake your way to it. You can't manufacture it with a polished IMAGE. It's earned through REPETITION. Through showing up as yourself again and again and AGAIN, even when it would be EASIER to perform.

Think of it like this: Would you trust someone who shows you a different face every time you meet them? No. You trust the person who is CONSISTENTLY themselves. The one whose character doesn't shift with the AUDIENCE.

That's the kind of credibility that LASTS. That's the kind that opens doors and creates IMPACT. 🙏✨

PART 2: FINDING YOUR AUTHENTIC VOICE - HOW TO SPEAK LIKE YOURSELF

Hello BEAUTIFUL people and welcome back to The Voice of Impact series!

Last week, we talked about why imitation kills connection and what your authentic voice actually is. If you missed it, go back and catch up because today we're building on that foundation!

Today, we're getting PRACTICAL on how to stop copying others and start owning YOUR voice on stage, behind the mic, and in every conversation that matters.

Let's get started shall we?!

HOW TO FIND YOUR AUTHENTIC VOICE

1. SPEAK LIKE YOU'RE TALKING TO A FRIEND
Stop writing speeches like essays. Stop trying to sound "professional" or "impressive." (There's a BIG difference between sounding and BEING)

Instead, ask yourself: "How would I explain this to my best friend over coffee with vitumbuwas?"

That's your voice right there! Natural. Clear. Real.

When you speak like that on stage, people lean in. Why? Because it doesn't feel like a performance - it feels like a CONVERSATION. And conversations? They BUILD connection!

I've seen this transformation happen with MYSELF. The moment I stopped trying to sound like a "speaker" and just talk like myself? The entire room shifted. People relaxed. They engaged. They LISTENED.

2. TELL YOUR OWN STORIES, NOT BORROWED ONES (Just like I did above 😉)

Don't start every speech with "There was once a man who…" unless that man is YOU or someone you actually know.

Your experiences, your lessons, your journey - THAT'S what makes you unique.
Nobody else has lived your life. Nobody else has learned your lessons the way you did.

Use them!

When you share YOUR story in YOUR words, you're not competing with anyone. You're offering something nobody else can.

THAT is what audiences remember long after you've left the stage.

I learned this early on. The stories I gave using other people's stories were fine. But the ones where I shared MY journey? Those were the ones that sparked conversations and created connections.

3. EMBRACE YOUR QUIRKS, DON'T HIDE THEM
Maybe you laugh when you're nervous.
Maybe you use your hands A LOT when you talk.
Maybe you pause often to gather your thoughts.
Maybe your accent is strong.

Good!

Those aren't flaws to fix. They're part of what makes you MEMORABLE.
The speakers people remember are the ones who sound REAL.

Stop trying to sand down your edges. Let them SHINE because that's where your authenticity lives!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIND YOUR VOICE

Here's what I've discovered in my own journey: When you stop imitating and start speaking authentically:
✅ You feel more confident - because you're not pretending to be someone else
✅ Your audience connects faster - because they sense your honesty
✅ You're more adaptable - because you're not locked into a script that isn't yours
✅ Your message lands harder - because it's coming from a REAL place

You stop worrying about sounding like the "right" kind of speaker.

You just speak. And people LISTEN.

The difference is incredible. I've felt it myself and I've watched it transform others.

There's a freedom that comes with being yourself that no amount of borrowed confidence can replace.

YOUR CHALLENGE THIS WEEK
Here's what I want you to do:
Record yourself talking about something you're passionate about - no script, no rehearsal. Just YOU explaining it like you would to a friend.

Listen back.

That's your authentic voice right there!

Now ask yourself: Does this sound like how I communicate in public?

If not, it's time to close the gap.

Speak like yourself. Not like who you think you should be.

Because the world doesn't need another imitation.

It needs YOUR voice.

I would LOVE to hear how this challenge goes for you! Drop a comment or send me a message about what you discovered.

Hello BEAUTIFUL people, happy new week 🌟

Let's talk about PURPOSE for a moment.

Purpose is what separates words that are FORGOTTEN from words that change someone's entire trajectory. It's what turns a simple sentence into a LIFELINE for someone who desperately needs it.

When you write with PURPOSE, you're not just stringing words together - you're SERVING. You're asking yourself: "What does this person NEED to hear right now? What truth can set them FREE? What hope can I offer that will help them take the next step to change there LIFE?"

Purpose makes you INTENTIONAL. It forces you to dig deeper than surface-level observations and it pushes you to speak to the HEART of the matter, not just dance around it.

I've learned that the most powerful words I've ever written weren't the ones that sounded impressive - they were the ones birthed from a clear SENSE of why they needed to exist. Words written because someone, somewhere, needed to encounter that specific TRUTH at that specific moment. (HOLY SPIRIT thankyou!)

That's what God calls us to - purposeful communication that TRANSFORMS. To SPEAK words that don't just inform, but IGNITE. To SEND messages that don't just entertain, but EMPOWER.

So when you sit down to write, remember: Your words carry WEIGHT. They have the power to shift perspectives, heal wounds, and spark CHANGE.

Use them with PURPOSE in mind and write like someone's breakthrough depends on it because... it just might. ✍️✨

PART 1: FINDING YOUR AUTHENTIC VOICE - WHY IMITATION KILLS CONNECTION

Hello BEAUTIFUL people and welcome back!

We've just about wrapped up The Three Pillars series, where we explored how Public Speaking, MCing, and Journalism work together to create powerful communicators.

Now, we're going DEEPER!

Over the next few weeks, we'll be breaking down each pillar even further - giving you practical, focused insights on mastering the art of communication that moves audiences.

Our new series will be called; The Voice of Impact.

Today, we start with something ESSENTIAL: Finding Your Authentic Voice.
Because all the techniques in the world won't help you if you don't sound like YOURSELF.

Let's dive in shall we?!

THE FASTEST WAY TO LOSE YOUR AUDIENCE

The fastest way to lose your audience is to sound like someone else. I've seen it happen and experienced it many times. Someone watches a powerful presentation, hears a dynamic MC at an event, or listens to a captivating speaker and they think, "That's how I need to sound."

So they copy the gestures, they mimic the tone, they borrow the phrases and you know what happens? They lose themselves, the audience can FEEL it! There's something off. Something inauthentic, something that doesn't quite fit right.

Because here's the truth: People don't connect with perfection. They connect with AUTHENTICITY.

THE PROBLEM WITH IMITATION

When you try to sound like someone else, you're operating from a script that doesn't fit YOUR voice, YOUR personal experience, YOUR personality.

You end up:
• Second-guessing every word
• Feeling like a fraud on stage
• Exhausting yourself trying to maintain a performance
• Missing the POWER that comes from just being YOU
I learned this the hard way.

I've written about this before, early in my career, I watched seasoned journalists and speakers and thought I had to match their polish, their formality, their "professional" tone. So I tried. I sounded… Professional. Competent...But I didn't sound like ME.

But the moment I stopped trying to be them and started speaking like MYSELF?
Everything changed INCLUDING the atmosphere in the room!

Even the opportunities increased, the connections deepened. The impact became REAL. Not because I became perfect. Because I became AUTHENTIC.

Imitation kills connection because audiences can sense when you're not being genuine, and that creates DISTANCE instead of trust. When you're copying someone else, you're focused on performing rather than CONNECTING, which makes you rigid and less responsive to the room.

People don't remember the perfect speaker - they remember the REAL one who made them feel something authentic!

WHAT IS YOUR AUTHENTIC VOICE?

Your authentic voice is the way you communicate when you're:
• Talking to a close friend about something you're passionate about
• Explaining something you know deeply without thinking about how it sounds
• Being honest, clear, and unapologetically YOURSELF

❌It's not formal or fake.
❌It's not borrowed or rehearsed.
✅It's YOU - your words, your rhythm, your energy, your truth!

And that's what people remember. That's what moves them. That's what makes them TRUST you.

Next week, we'll explore HOW to actually find and own your authentic voice with practical steps you can start using immediately.

I would LOVE it if you came back for Part 2!
