“The Bible Doesn’t Teach Dating, It Teaches Covenant”
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing
and obtains favor from the Lord.” - Proverbs 18:22
I never truly understood Solomon’s words until I learned to see them through the saving, leading, and redeeming work of Jesus Christ. When God began to lead my heart toward you, I resisted. I said, “No, Lord. She is far too kind, far too precious, far too faithful as Your daughter. I am not worthy.” What I did not yet see was that you were bringing the same humility and surrender before Jesus in prayer.
While we both desired to serve God faithfully and separately, He was quietly aligning our paths. We held fast to obedience, unaware that many are the plans of man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that prevails.
This was our first church event together under B1G Angono. A night of worship and fellowship, and the first time you met my extended family from CCF Angono. A grace-filled moment I will always treasure.
Before I pursued you, I wrestled with the Lord for a long time. He kept drawing me back to a posture of surrender, the heart behind Isaiah 6:8, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.” And when I finally yielded, it was not driven by emotion, but by obedience. Fully for Christ, and with wisdom and prayer, for you.
Now that you are my wife, I better understand Proverbs 18:22 and why Scripture teaches that a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for this blessing and this privilege to serve You and proclaim the Gospel with my wife, the woman You brought into covenant with me, my co equal, my ezer, a strong helper given by You.
May this remind us all that if we desire to love someone well, we must first love Jesus and love Him more. So that in time, when all things are unveiled and revealed, and the person God has prepared is made clear, we will not be ruled by fear or hesitation. We will move forward in faith, knowing that with God, all things are possible.
